New Electro Harmonix English Muff’n JCM Mod

I picked up an EH English Muff’n a while back to play around with on guitar and bass. It wasnt a bad sounding pedal right out of the box. Tons of gain on tap but to me something was missing with all that gain. I couldnt get a ton that I was really happy, I am really picky about my tone and the sound that I am looking for (just ask my wife :) ). So I set the pedal aside and left it there hoping to come back with a fresh set of ears to try and get a tone that I was happy with.

Well, came back and started tinkering around looking at the circuit to see what all was going on. So after some thought, I dove in. Now I have a tube pedal that growls just like a JCM800 and reacts just like a true tube amp should. You can go from a nice light breakup to cranked up JCM800. It reacts wonderfully with adjusting the volume on your guitar. If want to push it further over the top, throw a boost in front of it (just like most people do on the real thing) and you have a nice fire breather. Best part is …. you dont have to crank your amp to the point of ears bleeding to get that JCM sound.

I am working on getting the clips and maybe a video put together to show you what all this thing can do. So stay tuned!
