Pedal Mods At The Vintage Sound

Got a pedal that’s just not quite cutting it for you? Why not have it modded to what you want out of it?

I’ve been offering pedal modifications here locally around Atlanta but I wanted to extend it out to everyone else out there on the web. Sure there are a lot of guys that do mods, no doubt about that. I don’t just offer your typical mod on a pedal, I work with you on finding out what YOU want out of the pedal and make a mod to the pedal that suites YOUR needs.

I am sure some of you are familiar with the General Guitar Gadgets kits, not sure if you can put the kits together?  Let me build it for you! Here’s pic of the modded out Tube Screamer kit I did for a customer. Includes a three position clipping selector (Diodes in asymetrical clipping, LEDS in symetrical and no clipping for a straight boost), the bass response has been increased (but just in case it wasnt enough that is a fat switch for adding even more bass, great for bass guitar) and a socket saver has been installed in case you want to swap out the 4558 chip with one of you own chips.

New fuzz pedal in the works for Conner Amps

20110904-102421.jpg

So I decided to create my own fuzz pedal for Conner Amps. So I did a little research into the whole “fuzz” world and what made a fuzz pedal a fuzz pedal. Looked at all the popular ones that so many people have cloned / modded, then decided that I would go my own way and build one from the ground up. Using completely different transistors and just tinkering with the design. If everything works right I should have one ready to show off at the Southeastern Guitar and Amp Show in Raleigh, NC later this month.

I’ll keep you posted on how the build goes. In the meantime if you are around Raleigh, NC September 24th & 25th be sure to stop by the show and say hi! I’ll have 6 other pedals, 2 amps and ton of other gear for you to try out! That includes 6 different models of Weber speakers, like the the Blue Dog, Silver Bell as well as the two models from the Legacy Series and DT series!

See ya then!

Vintage Sound & Conner Amps will be in Nashville August 19th – 21st!

Hey gearheads, tone seekers and guitar players!

I am sure some of you are aware, but there is a guitar and amp show in Nashville, TN on August 19-21. Imagine being able to try out tons of boutique gear, being able to chat with the builders and have it all in a closed room without having to compete with the booth next door. That’s right plug it in crank it up without any volume limitations (although you might want to bring ear plugs ;) ).

Stop by to check out my amp and pedal line that I released this year, Conner Amps. Here’s a list of new gear:
- Rat Rod Jr – 8 watt little monster tube amp that goes from warm jazzy to cranked out overdrive
- Flathead – Two channel amp that goes from warm tube amp cleans to an aggressive overdrive that is completely touch sensitive!
- Bored n Stroked Overdrive
- Smokin Boost
- Octane Boost
- Speed Demon Distortion
- Small Block Overdrive
Ever wanted to try out speakers from Weber? Make sure to stop by I will have 6 different models of speakers from Weber all setup for you to try out with three different styles of amps to run through.
- New DT12s! - Warm, smooth speakers that are great for achieving American overdriven tones with amps that need to be pushed
- Two new models of the Legacy series
- 12F150 – the go to speaker ultimate blackface tone
- Blue Dog
- Silver Bell
… And much more!
So mark those dates on your calender, August 19th – 21st! For more information on who all is going to be there go to: http://www.nashvilleampexpo.com

Also for those of you that are on Facebook and Twitter, I will be updating daily with details with what all will be going  on at the show.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Name The Boost Pedal Giveaway!

As many of you know I have been creating some pedals and Amplifiers for my other company Conner Amplification. Well that brings me to this contest. I’ve come up with a new boost pedal that does things a little different. Think of it as plugging into the front of a warm clean tube amplifier, in other words its not a straight linear clean boost. Have a guitar and overdrive pedal that sounds a little weak? Run it thru the boost as a buffer or use it to push your amp. It also reacts like the first gain stage of an amp, meaning you can hit it with overdrive, boost or distortion and push it in to clipping as well.

Now the part where you guys come in. You guys get to name the pedal! I am looking for a Hot Rod themed name to go for this boost pedal. So submit your name suggestions either on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/thevintagesound) or send them thru our Twitter page (http://www.twitter.com/thevintagesound). The person’s name that I select will receive one of the new boost pedals free of charge! So hit me with your best hot rod themed names and you could have a shot at getting one of these pedals!

Contest starts June 24th and the winner will be chosen on July 1st!

Cheers and Rock on!

-Steve
